So how can we help;
Question 1. “Do I need planning permission”
More often than not, your garden will not require planning permission. As long as you conform to the general planning rules i.e. fencing should not exceed 1.8 mtrs and roof heights not above 4 mtrs. Most outside sheds etc won’t need planning but it is always good to check with your local planning department.
Question 2. “When might I need planning permission”
You may need planning if your property is in a conservation area. If that is the case you will need planning for both your front and your back garden. This is generally required for larger structural planting changes and hard landscaping changes that effect the general look and feel of the garden area.
If you are building a new build property. Every Council works slightly differently but in general they require a landscaping plan to be submitted with the planning consent request.
If the trees on your property have TPO’s (Tree Protection Order) on them. If this is the case you will need to apply for planning to reduce or fell any tree under the order.
